I’ve decided…

Filed under: Caroline, Children, Ryan — D @ 10:16 pm

to decorate baby # 2’s room in greens, with small accents of pink and blue. I think that will satisfy my need to nest and decorate and not be gender specific. I love some of the things I’ve looked at so far. I just have to make a decision and buy it I guess. I’ll definitely post a pic when I get around to decorating. Just feels good to make a decision. heh

We finally got some patio furniture. Walmart had a great sale and I read some reviews, so my Mom came out with her big ol’ truck and we got this HUGE box that took all 3 of us to carry into the back yard. It was actually very easy to put together. I am so very happy with the outcome. You be the judge:

We’re having our 5th annual Fireworks and Bar-b-que and we need something for folks to sit on. I hear that the neighbors are very cool with people setting off fireworks and in fact, our lot was the last in the cul-de-sac and they used it for fireworks. We’ll have to use the center of the cul-de-sac now. I am pretty excited because last year our very crabby unhappy neighbor called the cops on JUST us and we were forced to shut down after 15 minutes of fireworks, while ALL the neighbors around us weren’t told to quit. How unfair huh? So we have TONS of fireworks left over…hopefully they’ll go off!

We got our waiting families letter today. 14 boy referrals and 3 girl referrals this year. WOW! We are 3rd on the unofficial list. Which could mean we are anywhere from 3rd to 8th on the official list. I am SO ready to know who my child is. Ryan is SO ready to know if he’s going to get a brother or a sister. He can’t decide which one he wants. hehe He does referral to both Evie AND Grayson when we discuss going to Korea to get one of them. He thinks we are going to get both. Try explaining that to a 3 year old! Since we have a boy and girl name picked out, we MUST be going to get both!

Nesting?

So I am feeling the need to nest. However, I don’t know HOW to nest. I could do the nursery in greens and yellows. Or I could just decorate in blue and change it later if we get a girl referral. Because I REALLY want to go pink if we get a girl. Here’s what I am up against on the room we’ll use as a nursery:

It is currently Ryan’s Playroom. It is a really big room, so it works out perfectly. Now I have to decide what to do with all of his stuff! Most of it will get moved to the game room upstairs. But I’d like him to have toys downstairs in his room or somewhere, so he can play downstairs while I/we are downstairs. He wanted to pose in his playroom so here ya go:

I used to keep it more organized but he and his friends just trashed it all the time, so I quit. So what do ya’ll think? Should I decorate in greens and yellows? Blue? Or heck, PINK? hehe Wishful thinking there :) Give me your opinions!

Happy Day! I-171H

Today we got our approval in the mail from USCIS saying that we are approved for 2 children. WOO HOO! Now all we need is twins :P It is such a relief to have this simple piece of paper in our hands. This paperwork makes the I-600 (Orphan Petition) approval MUCH faster. We waited over 3 1/2 months from the time we sent in our I-600A until today. So hopefully that means it will only take a month or so when we turn in our I-600. Yay!

Our beloved director of the Korea program went to Korea today. We are praying she brings back LOTS of referrals. She should be home on the 28th. So we’ll be on pins and needles after she gets back to see if she brings back ours!! I CAN’T WAIT!!

Praying for peace during this process, for my mother’s recovery and for the Conner’s TC call by the end of the month so they can be with their sweet boy in Vietnam! He turns 1 in July and we’d REALLY like them to be together by then!

Some random pics

It’s been a bit since we’ve updated (other than my mom) so I thought I’d post some pics. We’ve been working, weather permitting, on our landscaping of the new house. It’s hard because we have all these great ideas and not enough money for them. hehe Here is the front, it’s still a work in progress but it’s coming along nicely. Ryan keeps ‘helping’ and is trying to create his own rock garden there in the front.

We’ve had 5 frogs take up residence in our bubbling rock. They are eating very well, as evidenced by the amount of turds on our porch! hehe We haven’t be able to get all 5 at once but here are 2.

We also made it to the new splash park in our town this week. Ryan (left) and his friend, Bill, had a great time until hunger forced them to stop. It is a pretty neat place, except on a windy day. As you can see from their poses!

Good news on the referral front. We are now down 3 months and hopefully only another month to go!! We’ve had 4 referrals in the month of May and 1 of them was a Korean Heritage family. So hopefully that means we aren’t far behind!
